Your Voice Matters!
Join our Community Conservation Roundtable series. The future of our Sea Islands depends on the people who know them best.
From the health of our creeks and marshes to the character of our neighborhoods, the choices we make today will shape Johns, Kiawah, and Seabrook Islands for generations to come. That’s why we’re inviting community members to participate in our Community Conservation Roundtable Series—an opportunity for residents to share their experiences, concerns, and ideas for the future of our islands.
These roundtables are part of two important efforts currently underway: the Johns Island Conservation Initiative and the Sea Islands Watershed Plan. Together, these projects aim to identify conservation priorities, improve watershed health, and develop community-driven strategies that protect the landscapes, waterways, and rural character that make our Sea Islands so special.
Conservation planning is strongest when it’s rooted in local knowledge. Whether you’ve lived here your entire life or recently made these islands your home, your perspective provides valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities facing our community. These conversations are designed to bring together residents, landowners, business owners, and other community stakeholders in an open, collaborative setting where every voice contributes to the conversation.
During each roundtable, participants will discuss topics including:
- Water quality and watershed health
- Growth and land use changes
- Flooding and community resilience
- Natural resource conservation
- Community priorities and opportunities for the future
The ideas shared during these discussions will directly inform future conservation planning efforts and help ensure that community priorities remain at the center of decisions affecting our region.
