In October 2024, a severe geomagnetic storm gave United States residents a chance to catch a glimpse of the aurora borealis. These lights are caused by energy particles from the sun reaching earth and being redirected towards the poles. While not quite the postcard pictures you may see from our northern states, the Southeast was able to see pinkish coloring low on the horizon last night. While faint to the human eye, our digital communications specialist was able to capture the lights with his camera.
