The Kiawah Conservancy wants to congratulate the Town of Kiawah Island for their recent successes with the “Kiawah Goes Green” initiative. This forward-thinking program aims to embrace sustainable practices for the future of our community.
The Town released its Compost Program earlier this year to recycle food waste into compost and minimize landfill waste. There are two compost drop-off sites in Kiawah Island at Kestrel Court trash and recycling center and at Town Hall. Interested participants must register for the program to receive the access code for the bins by taking a short compost quiz, which can be found here. Registration in this program is on-going and those interested can visit www.kiawahisland.org/compost to learn more.
The Town has opened electric vehicle charging stations at the Town Hall Building (4475 Betsy Kerrison Parkway) in the back lot. These stations are available daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. No vehicles should be left at the charging station parking spots outside of these usage hours. This is currently a 90-day trial with complimentary charging at no cost. After this trial has concluded, Town Council will establish an industry-standard charge, based on the data collected from the trial. Read more about the charging stations here.
*NOTE Town EV chargers will be closed on August 17 for service
